Opening Prayer

Our Father in Heaven,
We come to You today to ask for Your forgiveness.
We have worshipped Your Son, Jesus Christ,
as “King of the nations”,
but in our blindness we have failed to
acknowledge Him as “King of the Jews”.

We have failed to turn this degrading title
into a title of honour.
We have transferred the degradation onto Your People,
the Jews, whom we have ridiculed, despised
and persecuted in Your stead,
thus prolonging Your suffering over the centuries.*
We honour You, our Lord Jesus Christ,
and we welcome You as King of the Jews;
as King of our hearts;
as King of our churches and our cities;
as King of our country
and of every nation represented here today.

Praying Revelation 21:1-5 (Complete Jewish Bible)

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the old heaven and the old earth had passed away, and the sea was no longer there. Also I saw the holy city, New Yerushalayim, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared like a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. I heard a loud voice from the throne say,

"See! God's Sh'khinah is with mankind, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and he himself, God-with-them, will be their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will no longer be any death; and there will no longer be any mourning, crying or pain; because the old order has passed away." *
Then the One sitting on the throne said, "Look! I am making everything new!"

You are the Son of God.

and the glory of Your people Israel;

You are the Lamb that was slain to take away the sin of the world;
You are the First and the Last and the Living One;
You hold the keys of death and of Hades.
And just as You have promised,
we are waiting for You to return to Jerusalem,
the city of the great King.*
We worship You and we praise You:
David’s throne is Yours by right,
and Your kingdom will never end.
We honour You as Judge and Redeemer of mankind;
as Saviour of the world
who brings all God’s purposes to completion.
You are King of kings and Lord of lords.

Praying Revelation 19:11-16 (Complete Jewish Bible)

Next I saw heaven opened, and there before me was a white horse. Sitting on it was the one called Faithful and True, and it is in righteousness that he passes judgment and goes to battle. His eyes were like a fiery flame, and on his head were many royal crowns. And he had a name written which no one knew but himself. He was wearing a robe that had been soaked in blood, and the name by which he is called is, "THE WORD OF GOD."

The armies of heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and pure, were following him on white horses. And out of his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down nations. *
"He will rule them with a staff of iron." It is he who treads the winepress from which flows the wine of the furious rage of ADONAI, God of heaven's armies. And on his robe and on his thigh he has a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, "Deliver us!" "Blessed is he who comes in the name of ADONAI, the King of Isra'el!" After finding a donkey colt, Yeshua mounted it, just as the Tanakh says -- "Daughter of Tziyon, don't be afraid! Look! your King is coming, sitting on a donkey's colt."

His talmidim did not understand this at first; but after Yeshua had been glorified, then they remembered that the Tanakh said this about him, and that they had done this for him.

Praying Romans 11:13-24 (New International Version)

I am talking to you Gentiles. Inasmuch as I am the apostle to the Gentiles, I take pride in my ministry in the hope that I may somehow arouse my own people to envy and save some of them. For if their rejection brought reconciliation to the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead? If the part of the dough offered as firstfruits is holy, then the whole batch is holy; if the root is holy, so are the branches. *
If some of the branches have been broken off, and you, though a wild olive shoot, have been grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing sap from the olive root, do not consider yourself to be superior to those other branches. If you do, consider this: You do not support the root, but the root supports you.

You will say then, "Branches were broken off so that I could be grafted in." Granted. But they were broken off because of unbelief, and you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but tremble. For if God did not spare the natural branches, he will not spare you either. *
Consider therefore the kindness and sternness of God: sternness to those who fell, but kindness to you, provided that you continue in his kindness. Otherwise, you also will be cut off. And if they do not persist in unbelief, they will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again. After all, if you were cut out of an olive tree that is wild by nature, and contrary to nature were grafted into a cultivated olive tree, how much more readily will these, the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree!

It will not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they broke my covenant, though I was a husband to them," declares the LORD. *
"This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel after that time," declares the LORD. "I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, 'Know the LORD,' because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest," declares the LORD. "For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more."

This is what the Lord says, he who appoints the sun to shine by day, who decrees the moon and stars to shine by night, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar -- the LORD Almighty is his name: *
"Only if these decrees vanish from my sight," declares the Lord, "will Israel ever cease being a nation before me." This is what the LORD says: "Only if the heavens above can be measured and the foundations of the earth below be searched out will I reject all the descendants of Israel because of all they have done," declares the LORD.

The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; the LORD has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes. The LORD has done it this very day; let us rejoice today and be glad. LORD, save us! LORD, grant us success! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD. From the house of the LORD we bless you. *
The LORD is God, and he has made his light shine on us. With boughs in hand, join in the festal procession up to the horns of the altar. You are my God, and I will praise you; you are my God, and I will exalt you. Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.

"See! God's Sh'khinah is with mankind, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and he himself, God-with-them, will be their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes.

Ending Prayer

Oh, to see the sight, next to Christ’s coming in the clouds, the most joyful! Our elder brethren the Jews and Christ fall upon one another’s neck and kiss each other!

They have been long asunder; they will be kind to one another when they meet. *
O Day! O longed for and lovely dawn!

O sweet Jesus, let me see that sight which will be as life from the dead, Thee and Thy ancient people in mutual embraces.

- Samuel Ratherford

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
