to the Father, through the Son, in the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Grant me tears that flow endlessly from mine eyelids, a profuse outpouring washing me entire from head to foot, so that, wearing a garment of repentance made whiter than snow, I may enter into the divine bridal chamber whilst acclaiming thee, my defender.

Praying Psalm 51:7-12 (New International Version)

Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean;
Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones you have crushed rejoice.
Hide your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquity.
Create in me a pure heart, O God,
And renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of your salvation
And grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

Response to the Scripture

Lord God, indeed you love truth in the inward parts. Look with mercy on our contrite hearts and teach us wisdom.

Draw near to God’s throne of grace
with the thanksgivings, prayers, & intercessions that are on your heart

Even so, Lord Jesus, come quickly. *
Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

Ending Prayer

Plough deep in me, great Lord, heavenly husbandman, that my being may be a tilled field, the roots of grace spreading far and wide, until Thou alone art seen in me, Thy beauty golden like summer harvest, Thy fruitfulness as autumn plenty.

I have no master but Thee, no law but Thy will, no delight but Thyself, no wealth but that Thou givest, no good but that Thou blessest, no peace but that Thou bestowest. I am nothing but that Thou makest me. I have nothing but that I receive from Thee. I can be nothing but that grace adorns me. *
Quarry me deep, dear Lord, and then fill me to overflowing with living water.

- The Deeps, Puritan Prayer

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
