Praying Philemon 4-7

đź””

I join with all who are praying *
to the Father, through the Son, in the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Opening Prayer

O Lord, grant that I may meet all that this coming day brings to me with spiritual tranquility. Grant that I may fully surrender myself to Thy holy Will. *
At every hour of this day, direct and support me in all things.  Whatsoever news may reach me in the course of the day, teach me to accept it with a calm soul and the firm conviction that all is subject to Thy holy Will.

Direct my thoughts and feelings in all my words and actions. In all unexpected occurrences, do not let me forget that all is sent down from Thee. *
Grant that I may deal straightforwardly and wisely with everyone I encounter, neither embarrassing nor saddening anyone.

O Lord, grant me the strength to endure the fatigue of the coming day and all the events that take place during it. Direct my will and teach me to pray, to believe, to hope, to be patient, to forgive, and to love. *
Amen.

Praying Philemon 4-7 (International English Bible)

I always thank my God when I remember you in my prayers, because I hear about your love for all of God’s people and your faith in the Lord Jesus. *
I pray that your partnership with us in the faith will be effective in deepening your understanding of every blessing that we share together for the sake of Christ.

My dear brother, your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you have refreshed the hearts of the Lord’s people.

Response to the Scripture

You, Oh God, are reconciling all things to yourself in Christ Jesus.  Help us to walk in the ministry of reconciliation, bringing all things under your kingdom - to the glory of your Name.

Draw near to God’s throne of grace
with the thanksgivings, prayers, & intercessions that are on your heart

Ending Prayer

Dear God, thank you for warm summer nights and candlelight and good food.  But thank you most of all for friends.  We appreciate the complicated and wonderful gifts you give us in each other.  And we appreciate the task you put down before us, of loving each other the best we can, even as you love us.  We pray in Christ's name, Amen.
