August 10, 2019 was the first adopting of CTR's Statement of Personal Devotion to Live Out John 17 for One Year. We will be readopting (or, for some, adopting for the first time) on September 19, 2020.
The first adoption of the Statement of Personal Devotion - IN PERSON!! (wasn’t that nice :-)
Many of you will be thinking and praying about whether to re-adopt the Statement of Personal Devotion on September 19 of this year.
Others of you are considering adopting for the first time this year.
Please reach out to us with any thoughts, questions, concerns, or just to talk about what you are thinking and feeling and hearing from the Holy Spirit. This is a significant step for our community, to have the discipline of examining our hearts & lives and listening individually and together to the Lord, regarding continuing to live out John 17 in an intentional manner.
We have great resources to help you!
The Statement itself is important to read through, meditate on, sit with. For those of you who adopted last year, we suspect that some aspects of it will be highlighted to you, based on your experiences over the last year. No amount of theory can take the place of actually trying to do something!
The Study Guide is a comprehensive look at the Statement, unpacking each clause and providing examples. It also contains a number of good resources in the appendices.
Note that there may be some small changes in the wording of the statement, but nothing that will be a big surprise. We'll let you know when that decision is made. We're also planning to have a Zoom at the beginning of September (date / time TBD), for everyone interested in adopting / re-adopting - to just have the chance to ask questions, discuss wording, etc. as part of the preparation process.
Finally, please feel free to forward this newsletter to anyone that you would think may be a candidate for adopting the statement. The events of the last year have highlighted the need for followers of Jesus to be committed to lives of reconciliation, so there may be someone who comes to mind for you to invite. Thank you!
